Zain A. Gulamali leads VC and Strategic Startup Partnerships in the US West for Microsoft for Startups, where he partners with VC-backed startups on GTM partnerships and AI / technical architecture guidance. He brings 20+ years of experience as a technology leader and venture capital investor. At Amazon, Zain led nearly 50 venture capital investments, founded the company's AI VC investment program, founded the company's 4th VC fund (Amazon Catalytic Capital), and advised senior company leadership on strategy and M&A. He later served as GM of Strategic Partnerships at Workday before joining Microsoft. Zain spent time in an early-stage startup operating role at Sequoia-backed Pocket Gems (gaming and entertainment), growth equity at Warburg Pincus, and investment banking at Goldman Sachs. Beyond his professional experiences, he has volunteered in urban community service and international development through the Aga Khan Development Network (global NGO). Zain is a graduate of the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
