Swati Chaturvedi is a recognized deeptech investor. She coined the term “deep technology” back in 2013 when she started using it to describe a category of companies that are commercializing breakthroughs in science and engineering. She went on to start the MIT Alumni Angels group of Northern California - the first angel investment group for MIT alumni - to spur investments in deep technology. She then founded the Propel(x) investment platform as a way to enable large-scale global investment in science and technology companies. As the CEO of Propel(x), she has pioneered a systematic approach to investing in deeptech companies. As a natural extension of her work at Propel(x), Swati launched Calculus Venture Capital, to invest in deep technology startups at the Series A and B stages. Swati has been widely quoted in media and publications on the topic of deeptech investing. She is a frequent speaker, has given several keynotes and is a sought after panelist for discussions on deeptech. Swati has also written extensively on deeptech investing, due diligence in deeptech and more. Swati has an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, an M.S. from MIT and an M.S. from UC Berkeley. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Roorkee, India.
