Mark Gorenberg

Zetta Venture Partners, Managing Director

Mark P. Gorenberg became Chair of the MIT Corporation in 2023. He has 33 years of venture capital experience and is the Founder and Managing Director of Zetta Venture Partners, a seed and early-stage venture capital firm focused on artificial intelligence. Gorenberg joined the MIT Corporation in 2001 and became a life member in 2012. He has served on several Corporation committees, including the MIT Investment Management Company Board, the Executive Committee, the 2022 Presidential Search Committee, and the Development Committee. He has also served on visiting committees for several MIT departments and institutes, including linguistics and philosophy, aeronautics and astronautics, political science, mechanical engineering, and the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society. Gorenberg has participated in multiple MIT fundraising committees and campaigns over the past two decades. He co-chaired the Campaign for a Better World, which raised $6.24 billion to help the MIT community address urgent global challenges. He also served on the steering committee for Campaign 2000 and co-chaired the Campaign for Students. In addition, he served on the board of directors of the MIT Club of Northern California for 14 years and serves on the steering committees for the MIT Deshpande Center for Technological Innovation and the Martin Trust Center for MIT Entrepreneurship. He is a director of several Zetta Venture Partners portfolio companies and is a former director of the National Venture Capital Association. Before entering venture capital, he worked as a software executive and entrepreneur and was a member of the first SPARCstation team at Sun Microsystems. He serves on the boards of numerous successful startups. In 2011, he was appointed by President Barack Obama to the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.
